I was worried because this author is fairly new to me. I have only read her Dare series and it set the bar pretty high. I went in completely blind and whoa! Talk about dark and gritty mafia madness! I was pleasantly surprised. This story was really intense and action-packed right from page one. The suspense keeps you on the edge of your seat turning pages because you are not sure exactly where it's going to go. It is well written and the flow works.
The hero is a sexy mafia bad boy who makes a great ruthless bad guy. His loyalty will steal your heart. I was iffy on the h, in the beginning, I thought she was kinda a pushover and made not so smart decisions. She said it best herself "Good d*ck will make a girl stupid. I should become a lesbian." I thought that the Hero needed a stronger woman, but she definitely redeemed herself and I look forward to watching her grow. I hope that all of the female characters in the story grow as the series continues. The strength of the men demands it.
Be warned it gets pretty gruesome in a few parts. Overall it was an enjoyable read. I will be continuing with the series and recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good mafia story.
